Let us identify a singer who made a technical contribution to the art of Sinhala opera. - Sumudu Pathiraja sumudu pathiraja (1970 - present)

The number of Sinhala opera operas in Sri Lanka is very limited compared to the number of female singers. Among them, it is only fair to describe Sumudu Pathiraja as an experienced artist who loved and maintained Khemadasa Master's creations alive.

Born in Negombo in 1970, Sumudu Pathiraja is an alumnus of Harischandra Central College, Negombo. Sumudu Pathiraja joined the Premasiri Khemadasa Foundation in 1993 as a student and later became its advisor. What many do not know is that Khemadasa was the master who helped the new singers of the time who were associated with Master to maintain their training easily. From then until Khemadasa's death, he served for 15 years for the Khomadasa Foundation. by the time

In operas too, Sumudu Pathiraja had the opportunity to sing the Pirinivan festival in Cantata, the culmination of Sri Lankan music. The character of the "white boy" in the fire opera was brought to life by Sumudu Pathiraja. During his rehearsals for Agni Opera, Khemadasa Master was one of the few people who cared for him, even when he was ill.

In 1996, he left for Russia after receiving a scholarship to the timriyazev Academy, a state university in Moscow. She studied Russian singing under Mrs. Vera Pitrovna, the music teacher at its cultural home. His coordination with Russian poet Alexander Pushkin, who attended his 200th birthday celebrations, further sharpened his love of Russian singing. The singing of Alexander Pushkin's world-famous winter evening poem stands out as one of the most masterfully crafted works. The "Winter Evening" concert held at the Russian Cultural Center in Colombo on May 28, 2017 may be the first time that a Sri Lankan has performed a Russian concert. It was like the culmination of Sumudu Pathiraja's singing career.

Sumudu Pathiraja is currently the Director of Creative Education at the Quick Way International School, Negombo. Using about 100 children's voices, he created two operettas, Dear Friends and the Present, and passed on the art to the next generation.

In 2014, Sumudu Pathiraja was fortunate enough to participate in the 34th ITI International Performing Arts Festival in Armenia.

Sumudu Pathiraja was a rare artist who worked for a long time under Dr. Primasiri Khemadasa with maximum honesty and maximum productivity. During the rehearsals of the Khemadasa Foundation at the BMICH, Sumudu Khemadasa, who came to Colombo from Divulapitiya five days a week from 7 am to 6 pm, worked tirelessly to keep the creations alive even after his death. After Khemadasa's death on October 24, 2008, Agni opera rehearsals were held every Wednesday and Sunday from 3 to 6 pm for 2 consecutive years. Eventually Khemadasa honored the master by recording a documentary called Endurance living in khemadasa (enduring Khemadasa - living with Khemadasa) and distributing it free of charge among fellow artists at his own expense.

The smooth green Pathiraja "Green Symphony" performed Russian delegates representing the Russian Embassy at various international events organized by the Embassy of Pakistan in the recent World Mother's Day, played an important role in empowering the audience of the environmentally sensitive museum.

✏️ Just as you pay homage to Dr. Premasiri Khemadasa Shurin today, we remind you that you should never forget these artists who animated those creations. We, the Opera fans, pay our respects and love to them too.

We will still brag today that Neil Armstrong went to the moon. But was not that journey a single step of an individual, but a life-long, sometimes life-threatening mission for a large staff?
