MUSICKING
"Musicking" is a bit of a new word. The word came into dictionaries around 1998. Christopher Small was brought to the fore. Here's the playing, singing and performing, if it's a concert, working at the ticket counter, where's the piano? Who cares? How to ask? How was that created? This word contains things like. In short, analyzing the fact that music is a collective process today is also part of this Musicking. So I am writing this about the Musicking of Sunil Santha.
I think in 1944 Sunil came to Sri Lanka to study music in India. He too had changed his name for many reasons. It is a beautiful thing to change. Today it is very popular among black American rap singers. Caste issues for some. Some want to protect themselves from racial and social discrimination. Some be beautiful. Some people accept one scene after another. Now the Buddhist clergy continue to talk about this. In practice, most of the time we work without mentioning the name of the registrar. Inside the house, some say baby, buddy, raththaran, sudu without even saying their name. A lot of people changed their names for a while. But they are not registered.
So the name was changed and a lot of butterflies flew to this island. When the moths that went to India became butterflies and came here they had to face a lot of problems. Some had no place to stay. They lost their wings and became the old people of the island again.
However, the 1940s was a time when people from other countries came to Sri Lanka and tried to do something inside the island with what they had learned. In terms of art, the 43rd team. Sarachchandra on the drama side. Bandaranayake in politics. Music side Samarakoon, Sunil Santha. G.P. Malalasekara, Lester on the movie side. On the other hand, people like Dharmapala and Olcott imported funded Buddhist religious concepts from India. On this island itself begins a lot of social activism unique to this secular world. But something like what happened in Europe is not happening here. We still face the social confusion that arose when Sinhala became the official language that it is the absolute duty of man to serve man.
Nice one 💞🎸
